Job Description
Purpose

The purpose of a Hoist Bench Repair Technician is to perform inspections, repairs and testing of material handling electric-pneumatic and manual hoisting units’ in-shop.

Organization Relationships

The Hoist Bench Repair Technician will interact with fellow employees while reporting to the In-Shop Repair, Service Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Able to disassemble, clean, replace parts and re-assemble
  • Report and document parts usage and work activity
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and organizational skills
  • Maintain work area, equipment and tools in a clean and organized manner, following all safety guidelines
  • Follow instruction, policies and procedures
  • Ability to be flexible and multitask
  • Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately and completely
  • Determine extent of repair required
  • Prepare estimates using manuals and drawings to ID parts required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
  • Test finished product for proper performance
  • Prepare completed equipment for shipping.
  • Hoist & Crane repair experience an asset
  • Other duties as assigned

Abilities
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and understand technical data
  • Excellent people and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Current drivers license in good standing
  • Highly organized
  • Work independently
  • To exercise good judgment
  • Training in Hoist Repair an asset
Education and experience
  • Secondary school diploma or high school equivalent as a minimum.
  • 3 to 5 years repair work experience
  • Electrical Certification or minimum 3rd year apprentice required
