Job Description
Organization Relationships

The Assistant Controller will interact with Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Human Resources/Payroll employees while reporting to the Controller. This person will also interact directly with vendors, customers and banks.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting Controller with month-end, year-end accounting and reporting
  • Manage Accounts Payable to ensure timely payment of vendors
  • Ensure accurate data is entered into Visual Manufacturing (ERP)
  • Run costing utilities for month-end reporting
  • Completed monthly labour for job costing
  • Complete payroll accounting entries
  • Complete reporting and filing of payroll related remittances
  • Assist in resolving any invoicing issues such as incorrect pricing, back charge or disputed items
  • Continually review policies and procedures for automation and efficiencies
  • Any other duties as assigned
Functional Skill Requirements
Education and experience
  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Able to work alone with little guidance and exercise good judgment within guidelines
  • Attention to detail
  • Sound proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of the construction invoicing, billing methods and contracts
  • Post-secondary education in finance/accounting
  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the accounting field
  • Credit and collection experience in the construction industry would be an asset
